Test 16A - BRAKELIGHT Switch

NOTE: Perform TEST 1A - CHECKING SYSTEM FOR DTCS  before proceeding.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) connector. CAB is located near air cleaner housing. Inspect CAB connector for any damaged or pushed out terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  2. Ensure brake pedal is released. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage at CAB connector terminal No. 12 (White/Tan wire). If voltage is 8 volts or less, go to next step. If voltage is more than 8 volts, go to step 4).
  3. While monitoring voltage, depress brake pedal. If voltage is more than 8 volts, replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If voltage is 8 volts or less, repair open White/Tan wire. Perform TEST VER-1A.
  4. Disconnect brakelight switch connector. Inspect connector for any damaged or pushed out terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  5. Check voltage on CAB connector terminal No. 12 (White/Tan wire). If voltage is more than 8 volts, repair short to B+ on White/Tan wire. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If voltage is 8 volts or less, adjust or replace brakelight switch. Perform TEST VER-1A.
