Test 10A - Repairing Hood Ajar Sense Circuit

NOTE:
Perform TEST 1A
before proceeding.
- Ensure hood is closed and aligned properly. Using DRB, read HOOD AJAR switch status. If DRB does not display CLOSED status, go to TEST 10B. If DRB displays CLOSED status, disconnect hood ajar switch. Using DRB, read HOOD AJAR switch status. If DRB displays CLOSED, go to next step. If DRB does not display CLOSED, replace hood ajar switch. Perform TEST VER-1A .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect VTA module. See Figure in TEST 1A and see VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Inspect connector, clean and repair as needed. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance at VTA module connector terminal No. 12 (Brown/Tan wire).
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in hood ajar sense circuit. Perform TEST VER-1A . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace the VTA module. See Figure in TEST 1A and refer to VEHICLE THEFT ALARM MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform TEST VER-1A .
