Air Bag Module & Steering Wheel: Installation

- If replacing a deployed air bag module, clockspring must be replaced. See CLOCKSPRING under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Position steering wheel on steering column. Ensure flats on steering wheel hub fit formations on inside of clockspring.
- Pull clockspring, cruise control switch (if equipped), and horn wires through lower large holes and upper small holes in steering wheel. Install steering wheel retaining nut and tighten to 45 ft. Lbs. (61 N.m). Connect horn and cruise control wiring.
- Attach cruise control switch to steering wheel (if equipped). Connect air bag wire connector to air bag module and secure module to steering wheel. Tighten air bag module-to-steering wheel nuts to 80-100 INCH Lbs. (9-11 N.m). DO NOT connect negative battery cable at this time. Perform system operation check to ensure system is functioning properly. See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
