Test NTC-11A - Checking Pcm Power & Ground Circuits

NOTE:
Perform TEST NTC-1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
at beginning of article. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
at the end of this article. Perform TEST VER-2A
after each repair.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM 60-pin connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of signal ground circuit at PCM 60-pin connector terminal No. 5, (Black/White wire on XJ and YJ bodies or Black/Tan wire on ZJ body). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in signal ground circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of power ground circuit at PCM 60-pin connector terminal No. 11 (Black/Tan wire on XJ and ZJ bodies or Black wire on YJ body). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in power ground circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of power ground circuit at PCM 60-pin connector terminal No. 12 (Black/Tan wire on XJ and ZJ bodies or Black wire on YJ body). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in power ground circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage of fused ignition switch output circuit at PCM 60-pin connector terminal No. 9 (Dark Blue wire on XJ body, White/Yellow wire on YJ body, or Light Blue/Red wire on ZJ body). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in fused ignition switch output circuit. If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off and reconnect PCM 60-pin connector. PCM power and ground circuits are okay. Test is complete.
