Front Cover R & I: Removal

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE . Remove fuel lines. Remove water pump. See WATER PUMP . Remove power steering pump (if equipped).
  2. Remove remaining drive belts. Remove crankshaft pulley and vibration damper. Loosen oil pan bolts. Remove oil pan-to-front cover bolts on each side of oil pan. Remove bolts, front cover and gasket. Use care not to damage oil pan gasket.
