Governor Pressure

  1. Connect a 0-100 psi gauge to the governor pressure port. Operate transmission in 3rd gear. Read pressures. Refer to appropriate SHIFT SPEEDS & GOVERNOR PRESSURES  .
    NOTE: This test should only be performed if transmission shifts at wrong vehicle speeds when throttle rod is correctly adjusted.
  2. If governor pressures are incorrect at given speeds, governor valve and/or weights are sticking. Governor pressure should return to 0-1.5 psi (0-.11 kg/cm2 ) when vehicle is stopped.
NOTE: High governor pressure (above 2 psi) at stand-still will prevent transmission from downshifting.
