Air Conditioning (G2200059): Overview

WARNING: Do not do any work on the electric High Voltage (HV) system until the HA system on the vehicle is powered down.

The Air Conditioning (A/C) system cools the passenger compartment. The A/C system is also used as a heat transfer system to move heat to and from various systems in the vehicle.

The operation of the A/C system is controlled by the HVAC control module and is responsible for the temperature control of the following:

Passenger compartment cooling.

- The Electric Vehicle (EV) battery temperature control system cooling.

- The electric drive temperature control system heat for the passenger compartment when required.

The A/C system is a sealed closed-loop system, filled with refrigerant as the heat transfer medium.
- HFO1234yf refrigerant is used in North American Specification (NAS) and European markets.
- R134a refrigerant is used in the Rest Of World (ROW) markets.

WARNING:

Only use SP-A2 oil in the Air Conditioning (A/C) system. Incorrect oil in the A/C system can decrease the internal resistance of the electric A/C compressor. This can cause death or injury from electric shock.
Only use Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) approved refrigerant leak detection dye that is applicable for use with the electric Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor. Incorrect refrigerant leak detection dye in the A/C system can decrease the internal resistance of the electric A/C compressor. This can cause death or injury from electric shock.

SP-A2 oil is added to the refrigerant to lubricate the internal components of the electric A/C compressor.
