Electric Drive Temperature Control
The front and rear Electric Drive Units (EDUs) have 2 temperature sensors which send data through their respective Electric Power Inverter Converters (EPICs) to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The 2 temperature sensors in the front and rear EDUs are hardwired to their respective EPICs. The EPICs transmit the temperature sensor data to the PCM through FlexRay.
The PCM uses the temperature sensor data from both EDUs to manage the circulation of electric drive coolant through the electric drive components. The following electric drive components are cooled by the electric drive temperature control system:
- Front EDU
- Front EPIC
- Rear EDU
- Rear EPIC
- Direct Current to Direct Current (DC/DC) converter
- Wired onboard charging module
