The electric drive cooler is located in the front compartment.
The electric drive cooler uses the refrigerant from the Air Conditioning (A/C) system to cool the electric drive coolant in the electric drive temperature control system.
The HVAC control module controls the electric drive cooler isolation valve. The electric drive cooler isolation valve is connected to the HVAC. The HVAC uses a Local Interconnection Network (LIN) to control electric drive isolation valve. The isolation valve is normally closed and is opened by a LIN signal from the HVAC. The HVAC
LIN signal controls the amount of cooling by the refrigerant of the electric drive coolant by regulating the opening of the isolation valve.
The electric drive cooler has a 3-pin wiring harness connector on the isolation valve. The 3-pin wiring harness connector has the following connections:
- A power supply from the HVAC
- A LIN signal from the HVAC.
- A ground connection.
The flow of refrigerant to the electric drive cooler is controlled by the HVAC by operating the required A/C isolation valves.
