Removal And Installation: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Jaguar XE and 2017 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CAUTION:
    • Use only a plastic scraper when removing the sealing material.
    • Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
    • Make sure that the Jaguar approved cleaning fluid (Loctite 7063) is used to clean the mating faces.

    Apply RTV sealant (Loctite 5901G or Loctite 5900) to the areas shown.

  2. CAUTION: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
    NOTE: Install a new lower timing cover.

    Install the bolts, but do not tighten fully at this stage.

    Special Tool(s):  303-1433

  3. CAUTION: Make sure that a new component is installed.
    NOTE: Special tools shown removed for clarity.

    Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence.

    Torque Specification: 12 Nm 

  4. G11287011

    Install the remaining bolts.

    Torque Specification: 12 Nm 

  5. Remove the special tools.
  6. NOTE: Lubricate the seal with clean engine oil.

    Install the brake vacuum pump.

    Torque Specification: 12 Nm 

  7. G11310027

    Reconnect the brake vacuum pipe.

  8. Install the crankshaft pulley.

    Refer to: Crankshaft Pulley - Installation .

  9. CAUTION:
    • Use only a plastic scraper when removing the sealing material.
    • Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
    • Make sure that the Jaguar approved cleaning fluid (Loctite 7063) is used to clean the mating faces.

    Remove the old sealant.

    • Apply RTV sealant (Loctite 5901G or Loctite 5900) to the areas shown, and tighten the bolts within 7 minutes.
  11. CAUTION: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

    Install the bolts.

    Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence.

    Torque Specification: 12 Nm 

  13. G11300090

    Install the Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) actuators.

    Torque Specification: 12 Nm 

  14. Install the valve cover.

    Refer to: Right Valve Cover  (303-01B Engine - V6 S/C 3.0L Petrol, Removal and Installation).

  15. G11286180

    Install the idler pulley.

    Torque Specification: 48 Nm 

  16. G11286179

    Install the idler pulley cover.

  17. CAUTION:
    • Use only a plastic scraper when removing the sealing material.
    • Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.
    • Make sure that the Jaguar approved cleaning fluid (Loctite 7063) is used to clean the mating faces.

    Remove the old sealant.

    • Apply RTV sealant (Loctite 5901G or Loctite 5900) to the areas shown, and tighten the bolts within 7 minutes.
  19. CAUTION: Only tighten the bolts finger tight at this stage.

    Install the bolts.

    Tighten the bolts in the indicated sequence.

    Torque Specification: 12 Nm 

  21. G11300088

    Install the Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) actuators.

    Torque Specification: 12 Nm 

  22. G11300087

    Install the idler pulley.

    Torque Specification: 48 Nm 

  23. G11310049

    Install the idler pulley cover.

  24. Install the valve cover.

    Refer to: Left Valve Cover .

  25. G11310018

    Install the accessory drive belt tensioner. Refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE BELT TENSIONER .

    Torque Specification: 48 Nm 

  26. Install the electric thermostat.

    Refer to: Electric Thermostat .

  27. Install the accessory drive belt.

    Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt .

  28. Connect the startup battery ground cable.

    Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (General Procedures).

  29. Fill the engine with oil.

    Refer to: Engine Oil Draining and Filling .
