General Procedures: Filling

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Jaguar XE and 2017 Jaguar XE. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. CAUTION: Make sure that the area around the component is clean and free of foreign material.
    NOTE: Install a new sealing washer.

    Torque Specification: 24 Nm 

  2. NOTE:
    • Install new O-ring seals.
    • Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil.

  3. CAUTION: Tighten the component finger tight first.

    Torque Specification: 25 Nm 

    • Fill the engine with oil - for filling values on vehicles with supercharger:

      Refer to: CAPACITIES (FOR RWD VEHICLES) or CAPACITIES (FOR AWD VEHICLES) in SPECIFICATIONS .

    • Clean any residual engine oil from the oil filler cap area.

  6. CAUTION: Make sure that the vehicle has been left for 10 minutes from filling with oil and that the engine oil level is reading at least minimum. Follow steps  10 - 16, before starting the engine.
    • Start the engine and allow to run for 10 minutes, stop the engine.
    • Check for leaks.
    1. Allow 10 minutes for the engine oil level to stabilize.
  8. Refer to: Air Deflector (Removal and Installation).
  9. CAUTION:
    • Make sure that the selector lever and the gearshift mechanism are in the park (P) position.
    • Make sure that the hood is open.
    • Turn on the ignition.

    • Press the menu button to access the main menu display.

    Scroll down the menu to the Vehicle Info selection.

    Press the menu button to access the Vehicle Info display.

    Scroll down the menu to the Oil level selection.

    1. Press the menu button to access the Oil level display.
    1. If the engine oil level is not available, it will be necessary to update the oil level value.

    1. Press the cruise control cancel button 2 times to update the Oil level value.
    • Check that the oil level display shows an oil level reading.
    • If necessary top up with engine oil.

    1. Allow 10 minutes for the engine oil level to stabilize if there has been additional oil top up. Repeat steps  9 - 17.
    • Make sure that the average oil level value has now been updated.
  17. Turn off the ignition.
