For any vehicles undergoing this repair, it will be necessary to make sure that F-Type brake pads are installed to all subsequent pad changes Install F-Type front brake caliper and pad assembly in pairs |
| Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module noise and/or vibration through the brake pedal |
- Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module pump self check
- Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module operating when adaptive cruise control is active
- Brake pipes from the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) hydraulic control unit to the wheel insecure
|
- If the noise occurs at low vehicle speed before the brake pedal is pressed, or occurs on the first drive cycle after a sleep cycle, then the noise is likely to be the ABS pump self check. This is normal operation and is NOT a fault
- If the vehicle has adaptive cruise control and the noise occurs when adaptive cruise control is active, the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module will emit a low level noise when applying the brakes. This is normal operation and is NOT a fault
- If the noise is louder than expected, compare the noise to another vehicle of the same specification. Check the security of the brake pipes from the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) hydraulic control unit to the wheels. Make sure all pipes are secure and not making contact with each other, the vehicle body or vehicle bulkhead.
Rectify as necessary

- Brake pedal pressed with enough force to activate Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) intervention
|
- Confirm the customer issue and the road surface the issue occurred. If the brake pedal is pressed with enough force to activate an Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) intervention on a loose surface, a noise from the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module and vibration through the brake pedal may be evident. This is normal operation and is NOT a fault

- Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) brake booster vacuum assistance issue
|
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module for low vacuum pressure or vacuum sensor related DTCs. Repair as necessary
- Check the integrity of the brake booster vacuum system. Rectify as necessary
|
- Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Wheel speed sensor issue
|
- Faulty wheel speed sensor signal. Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, check the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) control module for wheel speed sensor related DTCs. Repair as necessary
- Make sure all wheel speed sensors are clean and securely installed. Rectify as necessary
- Check all wheel bearings for play. Rectify as necessary
- Check all Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) reluctor rings are clean and NOT damaged. Rectify as necessary
