Lean NOX Trap

The Lean NOx Trap (LNT) has the function of a conventional catalytic convertor, reducing the carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons content of the exhaust gases, in combination with the capability to store and convert noxious emissions. This enables NOx emissions reduction, in cold start phase, prior the Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR) system reaching operational temperature. The LNT requires periodically regenerating in a rich mode condition, when the LNT capacity is saturated. LNT also require periodic desulphurisation, which occurs during conventional Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration mode.
