Preliminary (G2389482)

1. Make sure that the vehicle has arrived in a sealed condition. Remove and discard the seals following local regulations. 

   Make sure that the vehicle has arrived with the transportation seals intact.

   After parking the vehicle in a work bay, open the hood for access and record the vehicle details on the Pre-delivery Inspection (PDI) check sheet.

   NOTE: Make sure the hood switch is not closed while the hood is open. Under certain conditions this may allow the vehicle to start. These conditions are:

   • Passenger compartment doors shut;
   • Driver's seatbelt engaged; and
   • Ignition switched 'ON'.
2. Check that the vehicle conforms to the specifications and options expected. 

   Record the following details on the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) check sheet:

   • Invoice number
   • Customer name
   • Model
   • Registration number
   • Registration date
   • Odometer
   • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
   • Engine number
   • Smart key number
   • Activity key number (if equipped)
   • Paint code
   • Trim code
   • Battery test code
   • Locking wheel nut code (if equipped)
   NOTE:

   • The smart key number is the 8 - 10 digit code found on the label of the plastic bag containing the smart keys supplied with the vehicle.
   • The activity key number is the 9 digit code found on its storage case.

3. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover approved Battery Support Unit (BSU) to the vehicle. 

   Make sure that the correct standard of battery care is applied. For additional information, Refer to: BATTERY CARE REQUIREMENTS

   Connect the Jaguar Land Rover approved BSU to the vehicle. For additional information, Refer to: BATTERY SUPPORT UNIT CONNECTION PROCEDURE

   CAUTION: Failure to charge the battery in this manner will cause the Battery Monitor System (BMS), to NOT register the charge increase. This can cause certain systems, including the Start/Stop system, to be inhibited during the first few days of driving while the BMS re-calibrates.

   To charge the startup battery, connect the positive cable to the positive charge point and connect the negative cable to the negative charge point in the engine compartment.

4. Connect the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment to the vehicle.

   Run the Jaguar Land Rover Pre-Delivery Inspection application: 

   NOTE: If the customer has requested any additional keys, these must be with the vehicle positioned on the center console.
   • Make sure that all smart keys supplied with the vehicle are positioned on the center console.
   • Press the hazard warning lamp switch to switch the ignition on.
   • The Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment will read the vehicle identification details from the vehicle.
   NOTE: Make sure the ignition is switched ON  during the auto-scan.
   • Ignition cycles are automatically controlled by the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment.
   • Check that the vehicle specifications read by the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment match the actual vehicle specifications.
   • Select the 'Service'  tab.
     • Select the 'Pre-Delivery Inspection'  tab.
     • Follow the on-screen instructions. This will set up telematics, disable the factory speed limiter and perform a full Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) clear.
     NOTE: Make sure WiFi is turned OFF  before the starting the telematics activation procedure.
   • During telematics set-up:
     • The system will now search for signal coverage.
     • If it detects a good signal coverage, confirm to activate the telematics module.
     • A message will state if activation was successful, a red light will illuminate the SOS call button.
     • If unsuccessful or the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment states a poor signal coverage, the vehicle must be moved to an area of good signal coverage.
     • Press the information call button, after 10 seconds the illumination pattern will change. Release the button and the system will try to activate the telematics module.
       NOTE: This will time out after 2 minutes.
     • If successful, the information call light will stay illuminated for a short period and the SOS call button will be illuminated red.
     • If unsuccessful, repeat the process until the SOS call button is illuminated red.
     NOTE: This step applies to Russian market vehicles only.
   • Confirm the operation of the ERA-GLONASS system.
   • Press and hold the SOS call button.
   • Wait for a response from the call center operator.
   • Answer the call center operator with the phrase, 'Carrying out pre-delivery inspection'.
   • Response from the call center operator will be, 'Information received'. The call will then be disconnected.
   • If the call does not connect please call the telematics service desk using the normal process.

   Use the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment to interrogate any DTC's that are present and rectify.

5. Check the register of Service Action Bulletins, Recall Actions, or Update Prior to Sales (UPS) notices and make sure all open campaigns are completed during the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI). 

   Make sure that all service actions have been complete and there are no recall actions.

6. InControl Touch Pro Map Installation  (if equipped).

7. Disconnect the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment from the vehicle. 
8. Disconnect the Battery Support Unit (BSU) from the vehicle. 
9. Startup battery test. 
   CAUTION: DO NOT connect the tester to any other circuit or chassis point other than the startup battery negative terminal.
   NOTE:

   • The battery voltage check MUST  be performed to make sure the Intelligent Stop/Start system performs correctly. The startup battery must be in good condition prior to handing over the vehicle to the customer.
   • Only use Jaguar Land Rover approved battery test equipment to test the startup battery condition.

   Make sure the correct standard of battery care is applied. For additional information, Refer to: BATTERY CARE REQUIREMENTS

   The startup battery test is to be completed before performing the remainder of the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), while the startup battery is not connected to the vehicle.

   The startup battery must be tested to determine that it is in good condition and there is sufficient charge to complete the PDI. Certain electrical systems require a precise voltage to operate correctly.

   Use the Jaguar Land Rover approved battery test equipment to check the battery charge condition.

   Record the startup battery voltage and test code on the PDI check sheet. For additional information, Refer to: NEW VEHICLE STORAGE FORM

   Check the startup battery terminals. 

   CAUTION: Incorrectly installed terminals risk the startup battery discharging after handover to the customer.

   Make sure that the positive and negative terminals are fully installed and tightened to the correct torque. For additional information, Refer to: SPECIFICATIONS

10. Reconnect the Jaguar Land Rover approved Battery Support Unit (BSU). 
11. Complete any applicable Software Over The Air (SOTA) updates.

12. Check the engine compartment fluid levels.

Investigate the cause if any fluid levels are low.

All engine variants:

1. Brake fluid reservoir caps (beneath covers):
   1. A.  Right-Hand Drive (RHD) vehicles. B.  Left-Hand Drive (LHD) vehicles.
2. Washer fluid reservoir cap.
3. Oil filler cap.
4. Oil level gauge (if equipped).
5. Coolant expansion tank cap.

Oil level check procedure  (Vehicles without manual oil level gauge).

1. Switch the ignition ON and make sure that the vehicle is in Park.
2. Select the 'Service Menu'  via the instrument cluster menu.
3. Select 'Oil Level Display'  . The current oil level status and topping-up advice is displayed on the instrument cluster.
4. Top-up as instructed.
