Procedure

NOTE:

This procedure contains some variation in the illustrations depending on the vehicle specification, but the essential information is always correct.
This procedure contains illustration showing certain components removed to provide extra clarity.

Before working on the fuel system make sure to study the fuel system health and safety section.
Refer to: Petrol and Petrol-Ethanol Fuel Systems Health and Safety Precautions .
Raise and support the vehicle on a suitable 2 post lift.
Refer to: Lifting .

General Equipment: Two-post lift
Using the special tool and a suitable hydraulic crane, carefully install the engine.

Special Tool(s): JLR-303-1633

General Equipment: Hydraulic jib crane
Install the left engine mount to engine bracket nut.

Torque Specification: 60 Nm
Install the right engine mount to engine bracket nut.

Torque Specification: 60 Nm
Remove the special tool.
Connect the coolant top hose to the engine.
Connect the 3 coolant hoses at the rear of the engine.
Connect the 2 coolant hoses at the right side of the engine.
Connect the engine management wiring harness to the main engine compartment harness.

Torque Specification: 3.6 Nm
Remove the left side body brace.

Torque Specification: 55 Nm
WARNING: Be prepared to collect escaping fuel.

CAUTION: Before disconnecting any components, make sure the area is clean and free from foreign material. When disconnected all openings must be sealed.

Connect the fuel supply and purge tube quick release connections.
Connect the startup battery positive cable to the starter motor junction box.

Torque Specification: 12 Nm
Connect the block heater wiring harness.
Install Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor.

Torque Specification: 25 Nm
Install the charge air radiator bracket and spacers.

Torque Specification: 47 Nm
Install the 2 charge air radiator bracket nuts.

Torque Specification: 10 Nm
Install the wiring harness to the charge air radiator bracket.
Install the wiring harness to the charge air radiator bracket.
Install the charge air radiator.

Install both the front halfshafts.
Refer to: Front Halfshaft (205-04 Front Drive Halfshafts, Removal and Installation).
Install the transmission.

Install the cowl vent screen.
Refer to: Cowl Vent Screen .
Install the hood.
Refer to: Hood .
Connect the startup battery ground cable.
Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
Check and top up the engine oil.
Refer to: Engine Oil Draining and Filling .
Fill and bleed the cooling system.
Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding .
