Parking Brake Operation: Notes

CAUTION: Damage to vehicle. Make sure the vehicle is secure and the wheels are chocked, if it is required to leave the parking brake in the off position.

Check that the electrically operated parking brake applies and releases positively:

  1. Pull the parking brake switch upwards (1  ), and release to apply the parking brakes. The parking brake warning/brake fluid low warning lamp will illuminate.
  2. To release the parking brake the ignition must be switched on. Apply the footbrake and hold down, press the parking brake switch down (2  ). The parking brake warning/brake fluid low warning lamp will extinguish.
NOTE: If the battery is disconnected, the message 'APPLY FOOT AND PARKBRAKE'  will be displayed when the battery is reconnected and the ignition is next switched on. Refer to 'PREPARATION -  PARKING BRAKE RESETTING  '  to reset the parking brake and calibrate the system.
