Visual Inspection Procedure

- Inspect the camshaft sprocket locating pin (2) for damage or wear.
- Inspect the threads (3) for the camshaft sprocket bolt.
- Inspect the camshaft lobes (1) and journals (4) for the following conditions:
- Excessive scoring or pitting
- Discoloration from overheating
- Deformation from excessive wear, especially the camshaft lobes
- Inspect the left intake camshaft for the following additional conditions:
- Excessive wear on the sealing surface (1) for the camshaft seal
- Damage to the threads (2) for the water pump drive belt pulley bolt
- If any of the above conditions exist on the camshaft, replace the camshaft.
