Removal Procedure

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .

  4. Pull down on the park brake cable near the park brake connector (1).
  5. Disconnect the left rear park brake cable (2) from the rear equalizer (1).
  6. Disconnect the right rear park brake cable (5) from the intermediate park brake cable (3).
  7. Remove the rear park brake cable from the park brake actuator lever.
  8. Remove the rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (J55) or Rear Brake Rotor Replacement (JL9) .
  9. Remove the park brake shoe. Refer to Park Brake Shoe Replacement .
  10. Remove the actuator lever from the backing plate.
