Steering Shaft Upper Bearing Replacement

Preliminary Procedures Remove the ignition lock cylinder case bracket. Refer to IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER CASE BRACKET REPLACEMENT . If equipped with a manual steering column, remove the steering column tilt spring. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Spring Replacement . If equipped with AN3, remove the automatic transmission control. Refer to TRANSMISSION CONTROL REPLACEMENT .
1	Steering Column Pivot Pin (Qty: 2) Procedure Use removerJ 21854-01 to remove the steering column pivot pins. Special Tools J 21854-01 Pivot Pin Remover
2	Steering Column Tilt Head Procedure If equipped with a power steering column, perform the following steps: Place the steering column tilt head in the full up position. Count the number of threads on the worm shaft showing through the steering column tilt head. Place the appropriate wrench on the worm shaft and unscrew it from the steering column tilt head. When installing the worm shaft turn it in the same amount of threads as counted previously. Tip Do not allow any debris into the steering column tilt head.
3	Steering Shaft Upper Bearing (Qty: 2) Tip The steering shaft upper bearings are press fit.
