Removal Procedure
- Remove the liftgate window. Refer to Liftgate Window Replacement .
- Remove the rear quarter trim located above the tail lamps. Refer to Rear Panel Molding Replacement .
- Remove the liftgate window garnish molding. Refer to Rear Window Garnish Molding Replacement .
- Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
- Disconnect the rear windshield washer fluid supply line.
- Disconnect the Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL) electrical connector located behind the header panel.
- Disconnect the rear windshield defogger electrical connectors (2).
- Remove the license plate pocket. Refer to Rear License Plate Pocket Replacement .
- Remove the lock cylinder. Refer to Liftgate Lock Cylinder Replacement .
- Remove the window latch assembly. Refer to Liftgate Window Latch Replacement .
- Remove the window wiper assembly. Refer to Wiper Arm Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer SS) or Wiper Arm Replacement - Rear (TrailBlazer, Envoy) .
- Remove the liftgate control module. Refer to Liftgate Control Module Replacement .
- Remove the liftgate wire harness. Refer to Liftgate Wiring Harness Replacement .
- Remove the liftgate struts. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement .
- Mark the location of the liftgate hinges using a grease pencil or other suitable marking device.
- Remove the liftgate hinge nuts with the aid of an assistant.
- Remove the liftgate from the vehicle with the aid of an assistant.
