Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Does Not Disarm with Key Lock

DEFINITION: The content theft deterrent (CTD) system does not disarm when the vehicle is unlocked with the key.
1 Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle? Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle

  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the door key switch parameter in the Driver Door Module (DDM) data list.
Does the scan tool display INACTIVE?
Go to Step 3  Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the door key switch parameter in the DDM data list.
  3. Insert the ignition key into the drivers door lock cylinder.
  4. Turn and hold the door lock cylinder to the UNLOCK position.
Does the scan tool display ACTIVE?
Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the LH mini-wedge door jamb switch connector.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Door Key Switch parameter.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit of the door key switch and ground.
Does the scan tool display the specified ACTIVE?
Go to Step 5  Go to Step 9

  1. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit of the door key switch and the ground circuit at the LH mini-wedge door jamb switch connector.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Door Key Switch parameter.
Does the scan tool display ACTIVE?
Go to Step 10  Go to Step 11

  1. With a scan tool observe the Door Key Switch parameter.
  2. Disconnect the DDM connector C2.
Does the scan tool display INACTIVE?
Go to Step 7  Go to Step 12

  1. Reconnect the DDM connector C2.
  2. Disconnect the LH mini-wedge door jamb switch connector.
  3. With a scan tool observe the Door Key Switch parameter.
Does the scan tool display INACTIVE?
Go to Step 11  Go to Step 8 
8 Repair the short to ground in the signal circuit of the door key switch between the DDM and mini-wedge door jamb switch connector.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 13  -
9 Repair the open in the signal circuit of the door key switch between the LH mini-wedge door jamb switch connector and the DDM.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 13  -
10 Repair the open in the ground circuit of the door key switch between the LH mini-wedge door jamb switch connector and the DDM.
Did you complete the repair?
Go to Step 13  -
11 Replace the LH door latch. Refer to Front Side Door Latch Replacement
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 13  -
12 Replace the driver door module (DDM). Refer to Control Module References for replacement, setup and programming.
Did you complete the replacement?
Go to Step 13  -

  1. Reconnect any connectors that were removed for testing.
  2. Clear any DTCs that may have been set during this procedure.
  3. Attempt to set the CTD system. Refer to Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) Description and Operation 
Does the system work as described?
System OK Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle
