Removal & Installation (SOHC Left Side)

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner assembly. Remove flare nut from EGR valve, fixing bolts on cylinder head cover and 2 fixing bolts on exhaust manifold. Remove positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve and camshaft angle sensor. Remove ground cable fixing bolts on cylinder head cover.
  2. Disconnect 3 connectors from ignition coil. Remove harness bracket bolt on cylinder head cover. Remove fixing bolts on ignition coil. Remove throttle body by removing 4 fixing bolts from the common chamber.
  3. Remove 11 fixing bolts and the cylinder head cover. To install, clean sealing surfaces. Apply RTV sealant to corners of end camshaft towers and install NEW gasket. See Figure. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
