Removal & Installation (DOHC Left Side - Amigo, Passport & Rodeo)

  1. Release fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable and battery. Remove air cleaner assembly. Disconnect positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose and camshaft angle sensor connector. Remove ground cable fixing bolt on cylinder head cover.
  2. Disconnect 3 connectors from ignition coils, harness bracket bolt on cylinder head cover and fixing bolts on ignition coils. Remove fixing bolt for fuel injector harness bracket. Remove 8 fixing bolts, then cylinder head cover.
  3. To install, apply RTV sealant to corners of end camshaft bearing towers. See Figure. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten cylinder head cover bolt in the same sequence as the cylinder head bolts, except for the 1 and 2 positions. Switch the 1 and 2 positions, see Figure. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
