Work Procedure

CAUTION:

When replacing TCM together with transaxle assembly, perform "ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REPLACING TCM AND TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY". Refer to Description .

NOTE: SYMBOL Before starting, make sure:
  • ASIST on the CONSULT has been synchronized to the current date.
  • All CONSULT software updates (if any) have been installed.
  1. SAVE THE TCM DATA (IP CHARACTERISTICS VALUE) 
    NOTE: SYMBOL Save necessary data stored in TCM in CONSULT according to the following instructions:
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait for 10 seconds.
    2. Reconnect all harness connectors disconnected.
    3. Turn ignition switch ON.
    4. Connect CONSULT.
    5. Select "Work Support" in "TRANSMISSION".
    6. Select "READ IP CHARA - REPLACEMENT TCM".
    7. Select "START".
      NOTE: SYMBOL When the calibration data has been saved to the CONSULT, the message "Data saved successfully" will be displayed and the current status will indicate "Completed".
    8. Select "END" to finish.

    GO TO 2.

  2. SAVE 'OPERATION LOG' 

    SYMBOL With CONSULT Save Operation Log, according to the procedure of "Programming" in CONSULT Operation Manual.

    NOTE: SYMBOL
    • TCM part number is saved in Operation Log saved in CONSULT.
    • If "TRANSMISSION" is not displayed and TCM part number cannot be saved on CONSULT, GO TO 3.

    GO TO 3.

  3. REPLACE TCM 
    1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
    2. Replace the TCM. Refer to Removal and Installation .

    GO TO 4.

  4. CHECK 'OPERATION LOG' 

    SYMBOL With CONSULT Check Operation Log saved before replacing transaxle assembly, according to the procedure of "Programming" in CONSULT Operation Manual.

    NOTE: SYMBOL For the vehicle that the programming is to be performed, check if Operation Log of Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is in Saved Data List.

    Is there an applicable Operation Log in the Saved Data List?

    >>

    GO TO 5.

    >>

    GO TO 6.

  5. PERFORM TCM PROGRAMMING 

    SYMBOL With CONSULT Perform TCM programming, according to "Programming" of CONSULT Operation Manual. Refer to CONSULT Operation Manual.

    CAUTION:

    During programming, maintain the following conditions:

    • Ignition switch: ON
    • Electric load: OFF
    • Brake pedal: Not depressed
    • Battery voltage: 12 - 13.5 V (Be sure to check the value of battery voltage by selecting "BATTERY VOLT" in "Data monitor" of CONSULT.)

    GO TO 8.

  6. READ IN TCM ROM DATA ID BY 'EPC LINKED' 

    SYMBOL With CONSULT Obtain TCM ROM data ID by EPC (service parts catalog), according to the procedure of 'EPC linked' in CONSULT Operation Manual. Refer to CONSULT Operation Manual.

    NOTE: SYMBOL "EPC linked'" allows an appropriate programming by obtaining TCM ROM data ID from EPC (service parts catalog) even when the part number cannot be obtained from the old TCM used before replacing with a new one.

    GO TO 7.

  7. PERFORM TCM PROGRAMMING (EPC LINKED) 

    SYMBOL With CONSULT Perform TCM programming according to the procedure of 'EPC linked' in CONSULT Operation Manual. Refer to CONSULT Operation Manual.

    CAUTION:

    During programming, maintain the following conditions:

    • Ignition switch: ON
    • Electric load: OFF
    • Brake pedal: Not depressed
    • Battery voltage: 12 - 13.5 V (Be sure to check the value of battery voltage by selecting "BATTERY VOLT" in "Data monitor" of CONSULT.)

    GO TO 8.

  8. WRITE THE TCM DATA (IP CHARACTERISTICS VALUE) 
    NOTE: SYMBOL Write data saved in CONSULT into a new TCM according to the following instructions:

    SYMBOL With CONSULT

    1. Verify vehicle is in "Park" (P), then turn ignition switch OFF and wait for 10 seconds.
    2. Ignition switch ON.
    3. Select "Work Support" in "TRANSMISSION".
    4. Ignition switch ON.
    5. Select "START".
    6. Select "START" again.
    7. Select "YES" on the Information window.
      NOTE: SYMBOL When the calibration data has been written to the TCM, the message "Data writing completed successfully" will be displayed and the current status will indicate "Complete".
    8. Select "END".

    GO TO 9.

  9. PERFORM G-SENSOR CALIBRATION 

    Perform G-Sensor Calibration. Refer to Description .

    >>

    GO TO 10.

  10. PERFORM CLUTCH POINT LEARNING 

    Perform Clutch Point Learning. Refer to Description .

    >>

    GO TO 11

  11. PERFORM SELECT LEARNING (DRIVE/REVERSE LEARNING) 
    NOTE: SYMBOL Always perform Clutch Point Learning before Select Learning.
    1. Perform Select Learning. Refer to Work Procedure .
    2. Clear any DTCs that may have set and then test drive the vehicle.
