Removal and Installation - Water Pump Housing
REMOVAL
- Drain engine coolant from radiator. Refer to Draining .CAUTION:
Perform this step when the engine is cold.
- Remove the drive belt. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Removal and Installation .
- Disconnect the harness connector from the generator.
- Remove the "B" terminal nut. Refer to Exploded View .
- Remove the bolts and remove the generator. Refer to Exploded View .
- Remove the oil level gauge guide. Refer to Exploded View .
- Disconnect the harness retainers from the fuel rail protector.
- Remove the fuel rail protector. Refer to Exploded View .
- Remove the clamp (1) and disconnect the heater hose (2) from the water inlet pipe (3).
- Remove bolts and remove the water inlet pipe.CAUTION:
Do not reuse O-ring.
- Remove clamp (3) and disconnect the radiator hose [lower (2)] from the water pump housing (1).
- Remove clamps (6) and disconnect the oil cooler outlet hose (5) and water hose (4) from the water pump housing.
- Loosen water pump housing bolts in reverse of the order shown in the illustration and remove water pump housing.CAUTION:
Do not reuse water pump housing gasket.
- Loosen water pump bolts in reverse of the order shown in the illustration and remove water pump (if necessary).CAUTION:
Do not reuse water pump gasket.
INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION:
- Do not reuse O-ring.
- Do not reuse water pump gasket.
- Do not reuse water pump housing gasket.
- Tighten the water inlet pipe bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Water inlet pipe bolts : 12.0 N.m (1.2 kg-m, 9 ft-lb) - Tighten the water pump bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Water pump bolts : 25 N.m (2.6 kg-m, 18 ft-lb) - Tighten the water pump housing bolts to the specified torque in the sequence shown in the illustration.
Water pump housing bolts : 50 N.m (5.1 kg-m, 37 ft-lb)
