- CHECK POWER SOURCE (PART 1)
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect shift lock relay.
- Check voltage between shift lock relay harness connector terminal and ground.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 2 .
NO
GO TO STEP 9 .
- CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT (PART 1)
Check continuity between shift lock relay harness connector terminal and ground.

YES
GO TO STEP 3 .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- CHECK SHIFT LOCK RELAY
Check shift lock relay. Refer to COMPONENT INSPECTION (SHIFT LOCK RELAY) .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 4 .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- CHECK POWER SOURCE (PART 2)
- Turn ignition switch ON.
- Check voltage between shift lock relay harness connector terminal and ground.

YES
GO TO STEP 5 .
NO
GO TO STEP 17 .
- CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN SHIFT LOCK RELAY AND A/T SHIFT SELECTOR (PART 1)
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect A/T shift selector connector.
- Check continuity between shift lock relay harness connector terminal and A/T shift selector harness connector terminal

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 6 .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN SHIFT LOCK RELAY AND A/T SHIFT SELECTOR (PART 2)
Check continuity between shift lock relay harness connector terminal and ground.
Shift lock relay - Continuity Connector Terminal E34 3 Ground Not existed Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 7 .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT (PART 2)
Check continuity between A/T shift selector harness connector terminal and ground.
A/T shift selector - Continuity Connector Terminal M7 4 Ground Existed Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 8 .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- CHECK SHIFT LOCK UNIT
Check shift lock unit. Refer to COMPONENT INSPECTION (SHIFT LOCK UNIT)
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
Check intermittent incident. Refer to INTERMITTENT INCIDENT .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- CHECK POWER SOURCE (PART 3)
- Disconnect stop lamp OFF relay 1.
- Check voltage between stop lamp OFF relay 1 harness connector terminal and ground.

YES
GO TO STEP 12 .
NO
GO TO STEP 10 .
- CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN FUSE BLOCK (J/B) AND STOP LAMP OFF RELAY 1
- Turn ignition switch OFF and wait for 10 minutes or more.
- Disconnect fuse block (J/B) connector.
- Check continuity between fuse block (J/B) harness connector terminal and stop lamp OFF relay 1 harness connector terminal.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 11 .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM (PART 1)
Check the following items:
- Open circuit or short circuit in harness between battery and fuse block (J/B). Refer to WIRING DIAGRAM - BATTERY POWER SUPPLY - .
- Short circuit in harness between fuse block (J/B) harness connector terminal and stop lamp OFF relay 1 harness connector terminal 3.
- Battery
- 10A fuse [No. 19, fuse block (J/B) ]. Refer to FUSE, CONNECTOR AND TERMINAL ARRANGEMENT .
- Fuse block (J/B)
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
Check intermittent incident. Refer to INTERMITTENT INCIDENT .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH MOUNTING POSITION
Check stop lamp switch mounting position. Refer to INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 13 .
NO
Adjust stop lamp switch mounting position.
- CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH
Check stop lamp switch. Refer to COMPONENT INSPECTION (STOP LAMP SWITCH) .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 14 .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN STOP LAMP SWITCH AND SHIFT LOCK RELAY
- Check continuity between stop lamp switch harness connector terminal and shift lock relay harness connector terminal.

Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 15 .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- Check continuity between stop lamp switch harness connector terminal and shift lock relay harness connector terminal.
- CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN STOP LAMP OFF RELAY 1 AND STOP LAMP SWITCH
- Check continuity between stop lamp OFF relay 1 harness connector terminal and stop lamp switch harness connector terminal.
Stop lamp OFF relay 1 Stop lamp switch Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal E56 4 E57 3 Existed - Also check short circuit in harness.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 16 .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- Check continuity between stop lamp OFF relay 1 harness connector terminal and stop lamp switch harness connector terminal.
- CHECK STOP LAMP OFF RELAY 1 CIRCUIT
Check stop lamp OFF relay 1 circuit. Refer to DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE .
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
Check intermittent incident. Refer to INTERMITTENT INCIDENT .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN FUSE BLOCK (J/B) AND SHIFT LOCK RELAY
- Turn ignition switch OFF and wait for 10 minutes or more.
- Disconnect fuse block (J/B) connector.
- Check continuity between fuse block (J/B) harness connector terminal and shift lock relay harness connector terminal.
Fuse block (J/B) Shift lock relay Continuity Connector Terminal Connector Terminal B39 9H E34 5 Existed - Also check short circuit in harness.
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
GO TO STEP 18 .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
- DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM (PART 2)
Check the following items:
- Open circuit or short circuit in harness between ignition switch and fuse block (J/B). Refer to WIRING DIAGRAM - IGNITION POWER SUPPLY - .
- 10A fuse [No. 12, fuse block (J/B) ]. Refer to FUSE, CONNECTOR AND TERMINAL ARRANGEMENT .
- Fuse block (J/B)
Is the inspection result normal?
YES
Check intermittent incident. Refer to INTERMITTENT INCIDENT .
NO
Repair or replace damaged parts.
