Fuel Gauge Circuit Test
- Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Black wire) at fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. See Fig 1
. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Black wire between fuel gauge sending unit and ground.
- Test fuel gauge sending unit. See FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT
. If fuel gauge sending unit is okay, go to next step. If fuel gauge sending unit is defective, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
- Disconnect combination meter White 24-pin harness connector M24. Measure resistance in Yellow/Purple wire between terminal No. 17 at combination meter harness connector M24 and terminal No. 3 at the fuel gauge sending unit harness connector. See Figure
and Fig 1
. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Purple wire between combination meter and fuel gauge sending unit.
- Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 17 (Yellow/Purple wire) at combination meter harness connector M24. If continuity exists, repair short to ground in Yellow/Purple wire. If continuity does not exist, fuel gauge circuit is okay at this time.
