Coolant Temperature Gauge Circuit Test

  1. Test coolant temperature sending unit. See COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENDING UNIT  under COMPONENT TESTS. If coolant temperature sending unit is okay, go to next step. If coolant temperature sending unit is defective, replace coolant temperature sending unit.
  2. Check engine self-diagnostic system for coolant sensor codes. See SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - Q45 article in TESTING & DIAGNOSTICS in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If no codes exist, perform self-diagnostic mode inspection. See ENTERING SELF-DIAGNOSTIC MODE  . If self-diagnosis is okay, no fault is present at this time. If self-diagnosis fails, replace unified meter control unit.
