Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lexus ES 330. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSPECT ABS WARNING LIGHT 

    WHEN USING HAND-HELD TESTER: 

    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3 and start the engine.
    2. Select the item "ABS WARN LIGHT" in the ACTIVE TEST and operate the ABS warning light on the hand-held tester display.

    3. Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the ABS warning light can be shown on the combination meter by the hand-held tester.

    Standard: 

    1. The ABS warning light is turned ON or OFF in accordance with the hand-held tester. 

    WHEN NOT USING HAND-HELD TESTER: 

    1. Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the connector from the skid control ECU.

    2. Ground terminal WA of the skid control ECU.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    4. Check that the ABS warning light goes off.

    Standard: 

    1. The light is turned ON or OFF in accordance with the connecting condition of the terminal GND and WA. 

    OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  ) 

    NOTE: When replacing the Brake Actuator assy, perform zero point calibration (see PRE-CHECK  ).

    NG: Go to next step. 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER) 
    1. Disconnect the combination meter connector C7 and the skid control ECU connector S1.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in Fig 4 .

      Standard

  3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in Fig 5 .

    Standard

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPAIR OR REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (SEE  COMBINATION METER  )
