Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Lexus ES 330. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

Start the inspection from step 1 when using the hand-held tester and start from step  2 when not using the hand-held tester.

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (MASTER CYLINDER PRESSURE SENSOR) 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Start the engine.
    3. Select the DATA LIST mode on the hand-held tester.

    4. Check that the brake fluid pressure value of the master cylinder pressure sensor observed in on the hand-held tester changes when the brake pedal is depressed.

    Standard: 

    1. When depressing the brake pedal, the reading on the hand-held tester increases. 
    NOTE: When replacing the Brake Actuator assy, perform zero point calibration (see PRE-CHECK  ).

    OK: Go to step 2 

    NG: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY 

  2. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (STP TERMINAL) 
    1. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector S1.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in Fig 3 .

      Standard

    NOTE: When replacing the Brake Actuator assy, perform zero point calibration (see PRE-CHECK  ).

    NG: CHECK AND REPLACE STOP LIGHT SWITCH CIRCUIT 

    OK: REPLACE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSY (SEE  REPLACEMENT  )
