Wiper & Washer Activate Individually, But Intermittent Wiper & Washer Combination Does Not Operate: Q45
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove wiper relay. Turn wiper switch to OFF or INT position. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Green/White wire) at wiper relay harness connector. See Fig 1. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check the following and repair as necessary:
- Check fuse No. 11 (20-amp) in instrument panel fuse box.
- Check harness for open and/or short between instrument panel fuse box and wiper relay.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Check for continuity between ground and terminal No. 5 (Black wire) at wiper relay harness connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open or poor connection in wiper relay ground circuit.
- Test wiper relay. See WIPER RELAY under COMPONENT TESTS. If wiper relay is defective, replace wiper relay. If wiper relay is okay, go to next step.
- Install wiper relay. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Using a voltmeter, backprobe terminal No. 7 (Pink wire) at BCM harness connector. See Figure. When wiper switch is in WASH position, zero volts should exist for.7 second. When wiper switch is in OFF position, battery voltage should exist. If voltage is not as specified, replace BCM. If voltage is as specified, check wiring harness between wiper relay and BCM for an open or short circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
