Wiper Relay

  1. Remove wiper relay. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . Measure between relay terminal No. 5 and all other terminals. See Fig 3. Resistance should be greater than 5 ohms between terminal No. 5 and all other terminals. Replace relay if resistance is not as specified. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.
  2. Connect battery positive to relay terminals No. 1 and 3. Measure voltage between relay terminal No. 4 and battery negative. If battery voltage does not exist at relay terminal No. 4, replace relay. If battery voltage exists at relay terminal No. 4, go to next step.
  3. With battery positive connected to terminals No. 1 and 3, connect battery negative to relay terminal No. 2. Measure voltage between relay terminal No. 5 and battery negative. Battery voltage should exist at relay terminal No. 5. Replace relay if voltage is not as specified.
