DTC Information And Inspection: DTC Detecting Condition

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy
  • Signal monitoring
  1. Poor connector connection
  2. Faulty cooling system
  3. Faulty ECT #2 sensor circuit
  4. Faulty ECT #2 sensor
Enable Condition Case 1
  • Block heater error not detected (block heater monitoring under the conditions below)
    • Difference between the current coolant temperature and the coolant temperature at start-up is below 2.25°C (36.05°F)
    • Coolant temperature below 50.25°C (122.45°F)
    • Less than 30 seconds after starting
Case 2
  • Intake air accumulation amount more than 1.0kg
  • Coolant temperature higher than 82.5°C (180.5°F)
Case 3
  • Cooling water temperature is between -10.5 and more and 75°C (13.1 and 167°F) at engine start
    1. Vehicle speed is between 40 and 180 km/h
    2. Air flow rate is between 24 and 300kg/h
    3. More than 18 seconds when the conditions 1 and 2 are satisfied
    4. More than 4 times of No. 3
    5. Vehicle speed is between 0 and 5 km/h
    6. Air flow rate is between 0 and 36kg/h
    7. More than 18 seconds when the conditions 5 and 6 are satisfied
    8. More than 2 times of No. 7
Case 4
  • Engine OFF time more than 5 to 7 hours
  • Block heater error not detected (block heater monitoring under the conditions below)
    • Difference between the current coolant temperature and the coolant temperature at start-up is below 2.25°C (36.05°F)
    • Coolant temperature below 50.25°C (122.45°F)
    • Less than 30 seconds after starting
Threshold Value Case 1
  • Difference between the actual coolant temperature and the model coolant temperature is less than 15°C (59°F)
Case 2
  • Difference between the actual coolant temperature and the model coolant temperature is more than 13.5°C (56.3°F)
Case 3
  • Difference between the maximum and minimum temperature of coolant is below the threshold (0.75 to 3.0°C/33.35 to 37.4°F)
Case 4
  • Difference between the temperature sensor average temperature (coolant temperature, intake air temperature) and the coolant temperature sensor temperature is more than 20°C (68°F) at start-up

Case 2
  • 120 seconds
Case 3
  • 1 second
