The Mass Air Flow Sensor is installed in air intake line and is a hot-film type sensor. It measures the amount of air intake and transfers the frequency signal to PCM. If the amount of air intake is large, the PCM judges the vehicle is in acceleration or high load condition. While if the amount of air intake is small, the PCM judges the vehicle is in deceleration or idle status. By using this signal, the PCM can control EGR amount and fuel injection amount more correctly.
