Inflatable Restraint Roof Side Rail Rear Module Replacement (w/o AS3)

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Caution .
CAUTION: Refer to SIR Inflator Module Handling and Storage Caution .
CAUTION: In order to prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, do not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS). Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
  2. Remove the rear headliner assembly. Refer to Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (SUT) or Headlining Trim Panel Replacement (SUV) .
1 Rear Roof Side Rail Inflatable Restraint Module Assembly
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .

Procedure

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  2. Loosen the 7 roof side rail inflatable restraint module bolts.
  3. Remove the 2 push in retainers securing the roof side rail inflatable restraint module to the vehicle.
  4. Remove the roof side rail inflatable restraint module from the vehicle.

Tip:  The bolts and push in fasteners are an integral part of the module and should remain with the module.

Tighten:  9 N.m (80 lb in)
