Preliminary Procedures Remove the bodyside trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Left (Extended Wheelbase w/E61) or Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Left (Extended Wheelbase w/o E61) or Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Left (Standard Wheelbase w/E61) or Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter - Left (Standard Wheelbase w/o E61) . Disconnect the power liftgate actuator rod. Refer to Lift Gate Actuator Rod Replacement .
1	Liftgate Close Actuator Drive Unit Tip: Disconnect the electrical connector. Cut the tie strap, if equipped.
2	Liftgate Close Actuator Drive Unit Bolts (Qty: 3) NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice . Tighten: 9 N.m (80 lb in)
