Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2012 GMC Yukon XL, 2012 GMC Yukon, 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2012 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Install the lower control arm (4).
- Install the lower control arm bolts (3).
- Install the washers (2).
- Install the lower control arm retaining nuts (1) and tighten to 175 N.m (129 lb ft).
- Install the lower ball joint in the steering knuckle.
- Install the lower ball joint nut (1) and tighten to :
- First Pass 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Final Pass: plus 95 degrees
- Install the lower shock absorber module mount bolts and tighten to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Remove the support for the steering knuckle and upper control arm.
- Install the wheel drive shaft, if equipped. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (2500) , Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (1500) .
- Install the stabilizer shaft link to the lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (1500) , Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (2500) .
- Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- Align the front end. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement .
CAUTION:
Refer to Fastener Caution .
NOTE:
There two types of nuts. One with a captured washer and one without. Use only the nut that is on the vehicle.
