Removal Procedure

- Release the parking brake.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Loosen the intermediate parking brake cable equalizer nut.
- Drill a 3 mm (1/8 in) hole through the dimple in the intermediate parking brake cable connector where the front parking brake cable (1) is connected.
- Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the intermediate parking brake cable.
- Release the front parking brake cable conduit (1) from the frame by compressing the locking tabs.
- Route the front parking brake cable out of the body mount bracket on the frame.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the left side body hinge pillar trim panel. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .
- Remove the left side instrument panel electrical center/junction block. Refer to Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement - Left Side .
- Carefully position aside the front floor carpet to expose the front parking brake cable pass-through grommet.
- Release the front parking brake cable pass-through grommet (1) from the floor panel.
- Disconnect the parking brake indicator switch electrical connector.
- Remove the parking brake release handle, if equipped. Refer to Parking Brake Release Handle Assembly Replacement .
- Remove the parking brake lever pedal nuts (1).
- Pull the front parking brake cable through the floor panel and remove the parking brake lever pedal and front cable assembly.
