Adjustment Procedure

  1. With the endgate closed, determine the amount of adjustment will be needed.
  2. If adjustment is necessary, remove the endgate. Refer to Endgate Replacement (Avalanche/Escalade EXT) .
  3. Mark the position of the hinges with a grease pencil.
  4. IMPORTANT: Use a screwdriver to move the adjustment hinge.
  5. Loosen the endgate bolts and adjust the endgate hinges by moving the hinges in the following directions.
    • Upward or downward
    • Inward or outward
  6. Reinstall the endgate and determine if any further adjustments are needed.
  7. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  8. When the proper adjustments are set, tighten the hinge bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the hinge bolts to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
