INTERMEDIATE SHAFT (9-Speed A/T): Installation

  1. Intermediate Shaft - Install

    1. Clean the areas where the intermediate shaft contacts the differential thoroughly with solvent.

    NOTE:  Do not wash the rubber parts with solvent.

    2. Dry the areas where the intermediate shaft contacts the differential thoroughly with compressed air.

    3. Apply Honda SPLINE WR GREASE (P/N 04360-5P8-305) to the intermediate shaft (A) as shown.

    4. Install the intermediate shaft and heat shield assembly (B).

    NOTE:  Insert the intermediate shaft carefully to prevent damaging the oil seal (C).

    5. Install the heat shield bolts (A).
     
    6. Install the under-floor TWC - Refer to:
    Under-Floor TWC Removal and Installation or
    Warm Up TWC Removal and Installation

    7. Install the stiffener plate Subframe Removal

  2. Right Driveshaft - Install 
  3. Intermediate Shaft - After Install Check
    1. Turn the wheel by hand, and make sure there is no interference between the driveshaft and surrounding parts.
  4. Transmission Fluid - Refill - Go to: ATF Replacement (9-Speed A/T),
  5. Wheel Alignment - Check
  6. Test Drive - Check
