DTC (E-pretensioner)
- DTC check
-1. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
-2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-3. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description DTC B2851-11 Driver's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Signal Circuit Short to Another Signal Circuit B2852-11 Driver's E-Pretensioner Spool Sensor Signal Circuit Short Are DTCs indicated?
Only DTC B2852-11
Go to step 2.
DTCs B2851-11 and B2852-11
Go to DTC B2851-11 troubleshooting .
NO DTC
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Refer to intermittent failures troubleshooting.
- Shorted wire check (E-PT MTR L GB line) 1
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P).
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Test circuit E-PT MTR L GB Test point 1 E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) No. 8 (GRN) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Go to step 4.
- Shorted wire check (E-PT MTR L GB line) 2
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P).
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected Test circuit E-PT MTR L GB Test point 1 E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) No. 8 (GRN) Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short to ground in the wire between the E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) of the E-pretensioner unit and the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor.
NO
The E-PT MTR L GB wire is OK. Faulty driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the driver's seat belt .
- Shorted wire check (E-PT MTR L VC line to E-PT MTR L GB line)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector -2. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2 without disconnecting the E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P).
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor 3P connector: disconnected Test circuit E-PT MTR L VC, E-PT MTR L GB Test point 1 E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) No. 10 (YEL) Test point 2 E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) No. 8 (GRN) Is there continuity?
YES
Repair a short in the wires between the E-pretensioner unit connector A (16P) of the E-pretensioner unit and the driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor.
NO
The E-PT MTR L VC and E-PT MTR L GB wires are OK. Faulty driver's E-pretensioner spool sensor; replace the driver's seat belt .
