DTC U019B  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - Battery Charger)

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

U019B F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - Battery Charger)      

DTC (Electric Powertrain)

  1. Problem verification

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait for 10 seconds.

    -5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    U019B F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - Battery Charger)      

    Is DTC U019B indicated?

    YES 

    The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the battery charger and the battery charge control module. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.

  2. CAN gateway system DTCs check

    -1. Check for CAN gateway system DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC (CAN Gateway)

    Are any DTCs indicated?

    YES 

    Go to the CAN gateway system DTC(s) troubleshooting .

    NO 

    Go to step 3.

  3. Open wire check (F-CAN D_H line, F-CAN D_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Battery charge control module connector B (40P)
    Battery charger 8P connector

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Battery charger 8P connector: disconnected
      Battery charge control module connector B (40P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 3
    Test point 2 Battery charger 8P connector (female terminals) No. 4:
    Test point 1 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 23
    Test point 2 Battery charger 8P connector (female terminals) No. 3:

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN D_H wire or the F-CAN D_L wire between the battery charger and the battery charge control module.

  4. Battery charger check

    -1. Substitute a known-good battery charger .

    -2. Reconnect all connectors.

    -3. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -5. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -6. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -7. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and wait for 10 seconds.

    -8. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    U019B F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - Battery Charger)      

    Is DTC U019B indicated?

    YES 

    Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery charge control module .

    NO 

    Replace the original battery charger .
