DTC (Electric Powertrain)
- Problem verification
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame U0146 F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - CAN Gateway) Is DTC U0146 indicated?
YES
The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the battery charge control module and the CAN gateway. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.
- CAN gateway system DTCs check
-1. Check for CAN gateway system DTCs with the HDS.

Are any DTCs indicated?
YES
Go to the CAN gateway system DTC(s) troubleshooting .
NO
Go to step 3.
- F-CAN circuit communication check
-1. Do the F-CAN Bus Connected Unit Check in the Function Test with the HDS.

Which result is indicated?
Battery charge control module (Bus A) is Not Available
Go to step 4.
Battery charge control module (Bus B) is Not Available
Go to step 5.
Battery charge control module (Bus D) is Not Available
Go to step 6.
Battery charge control module is Detected
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the battery charge control module. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.
- Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .
-3. Disconnect the following connectors.
CAN gateway 16P connector Battery charge control module connector B (40P) -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected Battery charge control module connector B (40P): disconnected Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 3: Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 6 Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 11: Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 26 Is there continuity?
YES
The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery charge control module .
NO
Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire and/or the F-CAN A_L wire between the battery charge control module and the CAN gateway.
- Open wire check (F-CAN B_H line, F-CAN B_L line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .
-3. Disconnect the following connectors.
CAN gateway 16P connector Battery charge control module connector B (40P) -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected Battery charge control module connector B (40P): disconnected Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 6: Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 4 Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 14: Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 24 Is there continuity?
YES
The F-CAN B_H wire and the F-CAN B_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery charge control module .
NO
Repair an open in the F-CAN B_H wire and/or the F-CAN B_L wire between the battery charge control module and the CAN gateway.
- Open wire check (F-CAN D_H line, F-CAN D_L line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .
-3. Disconnect the following connectors.
CAN gateway 16P connector Battery charge control module connector B (40P) -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected Battery charge control module connector B (40P): disconnected Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 7: Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 3 Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 15: Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 23 Is there continuity?

The F-CAN D_H wire and the F-CAN D_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery charge control module .
NO
Repair an open in the F-CAN D_H wire and/or the F-CAN D_L wire between the battery charge control module and the CAN gateway.
