DTC U0110  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - Traction Motor Control Module)

DTC U0155  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - Gauge Control Module)

DTC U1206  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - Battery Condition Monitor Module A)

DTC U12B2  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - Climate Control Unit)

DTC U1600  : F-CAN Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - PCM)

DTC U160C  : F-CAN 2 Malfunction (Battery Charge Control Module - PCM)

NOTE:
  • Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .
  • According to the detected DTC(s), check for the power circuit and the ground circuit of the control unit which cannot communicate with the battery charge control module.

DTC (Electric Powertrain)

  1. CAN gateway system DTC check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Check for CAN gateway system DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC (CAN Gateway)

    Are any DTCs indicated?

    YES 

    Go to the troubleshooting for CAN gateway system DTC(s) .

    NO 

    Go to step 2.

  2. F-CAN circuit communication check (Receiving control unit)

    -1. Select the Function Test in the CAN gateway with the HDS, then select the F-CAN Bus Connected Unit Check.

    Which result is indicated?

    Bus A is Not Available 

    Go to step 3.

    Bus B is Not Available 

    Go to step 4.

    Bus A and B is Available 

    Go to step 5.

  3. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    CAN gateway 16P connector
    Battery charge control module connector B (40P)

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      Battery charge control module connector B (40P): disconnected
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 6
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 11:
    Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 26

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery charge control module .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire or the F-CAN A_L wire between the battery charge control module and the CAN gateway.

  4. Open wire check (F-CAN B_H line, F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    CAN gateway 16P connector
    Battery charge control module connector B (40P)

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      Battery charge control module connector B (40P): disconnected
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 6:
    Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 4
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 14:
    Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector B (40P) No. 24

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The F-CAN B_H wire and the F-CAN B_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery charge control module .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN B_H wire or the F-CAN B_L wire between the battery charge control module and the CAN gateway.

  5. F-CAN circuit communication check (Transmitting control unit)

    -1. Select the Function Test in the CAN gateway with the HDS, then select the F-CAN Bus Connected Unit Check.

    According to the detected DTC on the following table, make sure that the transmitting control unit detects the CAN gateway Bus channel(s) normally.

    Is it detected normally?

    Detected normal 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the transmitting control unit and the CAN gateway.

    U0110: PCU is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    U0155: Gauge control module is Not Available for Bus B 

    Go to step 8.

    U1206: Battery condition monitor module A is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    U12B2: Climate control unit is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    U1600: PCM is Not Available for Bus A 

    Go to step 6.

    U160C: PCM is Not Available for Bus B 

    Go to step 8.

  6. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    According to the detected DTC on the following table, disconnect the transmitting control unit connector(s).

    NOTE:
    DTC Connector
    - CAN gateway 16P connector
    U0110 PCU 33P connector
    U1206 IPU 33P connector
    U12B2 Climate control unit connector A (32P)
    U1600 PCM connector A (50P)

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      Transmitting control unit connector for indicated DTC(s): disconnected

    Is there continuity?

    YES (except U1206)

    The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting.

    According to the detected DTC on the following table, substitute the correspond control unit.

    DTC Operation for transmitting control unit
    U0110 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCU. Substitute a known-good PCU .
    U12B2 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the climate control unit. Substitute a known-good climate control unit .
    U1600 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCM. Substitute a known-good PCM .

    YES (U1206)

    Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire or the F-CAN A_L wire between the CAN gateway and the transmitting control unit.

  7. Open wire check (F-CAN A_H line, F-CAN A_L line) 2

    -1. Remove the IPU .

    -2. Remove the IPU cover .

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    Battery condition monitor module A connector G (24P)

    -4. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      IPU 33P connector: disconnected
      Battery condition monitor module A connector G (24P): disconnected
    Test point 1 IPU 33P connector (male terminals) No. 26:
    Test point 2 Battery condition monitor module A connector G (24P) No. 12
    Test point 1 IPU 33P connector (male terminals) No. 27:
    Test point 2 Battery condition monitor module A connector G (24P) No. 24

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The F-CAN A_H wire and the F-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery condition monitor module A .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN A_H wire or the F-CAN A_L wire between the IPU 33P connector and battery condition monitor module A.

  8. Open wire check (F-CAN B_H line, F-CAN B_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. According to the detected DTC on the following table, disconnect the transmitting control unit connector(s).

    NOTE: Before disconnecting the PCM connector, jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait for more than 1 minute, then do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

      Transmitting control unit connector for indicated DTC(s): disconnected

    Is there continuity?

    YES 

    The F-CAN B_H wire and the F-CAN B_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting.

    According to the detected DTC on the following table, substitute the correspond control unit.

    DTC Operation for transmitting control unit
    U0155 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the gauge control module. Substitute a known-good gauge control module .
    U160C Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCM. Substitute a known-good PCM .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the F-CAN B_H wire or the F-CAN B_L wire between the CAN gateway and the transmitting control unit.
