-4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-5. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame P0AFA HV Battery Charging System Voltage Low Is DTC P0AFA indicated?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the No. D8 fuse, the relay circuit board, and the battery charge control module. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.
- Fuse check
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Check the following fuse.
Fuse No. D8 Is the fuse OK?
YES
Go to step 3.
NO
Replace the No. D8 fuse. Also check for a short to ground on the No. D8 fuse circuit if needed.
- IGC relay circuit check
-1. Remove the relay circuit board .
-2. Test the IGC relay circuit .
Is the IGC relay circuit OK?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
- Open wire check (+B IGC line)
-1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Relay circuit board: removed Test point 1 Relay circuit board connector B (14P) (female terminals) No. 13: Test point 2 Body ground Is there battery voltage?
YES
Go to step 5.
NO
Repair an open in the +B IGC wire between the No. D8 fuse and the relay circuit board.
- Open wire check (IGC RLY CL- line)
-1. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Battery charge control module connector A (36P) -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Relay circuit board: removed Battery charge control module connector A (36P): disconnected Test point 1 Relay circuit board connector C (10P) (female terminals) No. 1: Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector A (36P) No. 30 Is there continuity?
YES
Go to step 6.
NO
Repair an open in the IGC RLY CL- wire between the relay circuit board and the battery charge control module.
- Open wire check (IGC line)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Relay circuit board: removed Battery charge control module connector A (36P): disconnected Test point 1 Relay circuit board connector C (10P) (female terminals) No. 6: Test point 2 Battery charge control module connector A (36P) No. 17 Is there continuity?
YES
Check for any authorized service information related to the DTC(s) or symptoms you are troubleshooting or substitute a known-good battery charge control module .
NO
Repair an open in the IGC wire between the relay circuit board and the battery charge control module.
