Shift Cable Removal, Installation, and Adjustment: Removal

Detailed information, notes and precautions
  1. Vehicle - Lift
  2. Center Maintenance Cover - Remove

    1. Remove the center maintenance cover (A),

  3. Front Console Cover - Remove (Driver's Side)
  4. Shift Cable (Shift Lever Side) - Remove

    1. Shift the transmission to R position/mode.

    2. Insert a 6.0 mm (0.236 in) pin (A) into the positioning holes (B).

    NOTE:  Use only a 6.0 mm (0.236 in) pin with no burrs.

    3. Remove the shift cable end nut.

    4. Unlock the retainer lock (A).

    5. Rotate the socket holder retainer (A) in arrow direction (B) until it stops, and push the retainer lock (C) into the socket holder retainer to lock the retainer.

    6. Slide the socket holder (A) away as shown to remove the shift cable (B).
    NOTE:  Do not remove the shift cable by pulling the shift cable guide (C).
  5. Air Cleaner - Remove
  6. Throttle Body Inlet Pipe - Remove (1.5 L engine)
  7. Lock Pin - Remove
  8. Control Pin - Remove
  9. Shift Cable Bracket - Remove
  10. Shift Cable (Under Side) - Remove
