Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact:

With the connector still disconnected, do the following input tests:

Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained
8 LT GRN Disconnect the audio remote-HFL switch 12P connector Check for continuity between terminal No. 8, and audio remote-HFL switch 12P connector terminal No. 11: There should be continuity. An open in the HSW LIN wire
Check for continuity to ground:There should be no continuity. A short to ground in the HSW LIN wire
7 BLU Disconnect the steering heater 4P connector Check for continuity between terminal No. 7 and steering wheel heater 4P connector terminal No. 4: There should be continuity. An open or high resistance in the wire

Reconnect the connector, and do the following input tests:

2 RED Vehicle ON mode Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty heated steering wheel relay
  • Faulty cable reel
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
12 BLK In all power modes Measure the voltage to ground:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty audio remote-HFL switch
  • Faulty cable reel
  • An open or high resistance in the ground wire
1 PUR Disconnect the steering wheel heater 4P connector, vehicle ON mode, and heated steering wheel switch ON Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. A short to ground in the wire
6 TAN Disconnect the steering wheel heater 4P connector, vehicle ON mode, and heated steering wheel switch ON Measure the voltage to ground: There should be 5 V. A short to ground in the wire
514 YELGRY Vehicle ON mode, and heated steering wheel switch pressed Measure the voltage between terminals No. 5 and No. 14:There should be less than 0.2 V.
  • Faulty heated steering wheel switch
  • An open or high resistance in the wire
Vehicle ON mode, and heated steering wheel switch released Measure the voltage between terminals No. 5 and No. 14:There should be battery voltage.
  • Faulty heated steering wheel switch
  • A short to ground in the wire
10 PNK Vehicle ON mode Connect to ground with a jumper wire:The heated steering wheel switch indicator should come on.
