DTC P1586 : HV Battery Current Sensor
NOTE:
- Before you troubleshoot, review the How to Troubleshoot the Electric Powertrain and Electric Powertrain Service Precaution .
- If any of the DTCs listed below are indicated at the same time as DTC P1586, troubleshoot those DTCs first, then recheck for P1586.

DTC (Electric Powertrain)
- Problem verification
-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-4. Turn the vehicle to the READY TO DRIVE mode.
Test-drive the vehicle under these conditions:
- Vehicle speed above 31 mph (50 km/h)
- Maintain the vehicle speed for 2 seconds with brake pedal pressed (brake pedal position switch is ON).
-6. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame P1586 HV Battery Current Sensor Is DTC P1586 indicated?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.
- Determine possible failure area (SGISOC circuit, others)
-1. Keep the test-drive condition of the problem verification, and check the parameter(s) below.
Signal Current conditions Values Unit HV Battery Resolution Current Sensor1 Sensing Current HV Battery Resolution Current Sensor2 Sensing Current -2. Compare the value of HV Battery Resolution Current Sensor1 Sensing Current and HV Battery Resolution Current Sensor2 Sensing Current.
Does the value about same?
YES
Go to step 5.
NO
Go to step 3.
- Open wire check (SGISOC line)
-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-2. Remove the service plug and the IPU cover .
-3. Remove the IPU and the IPU case .
-4. Disconnect the following connectors.
Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P) Battery current sensor 4P connector -5. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P): disconnected Battery current sensor 4P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P) No. 29 Test point 2 Battery current sensor 4P connector (female terminals) No. 4: Is there 1.0 Ω or less?
YES
Go to step 4
NO
Repair an open in the SGISOC wire between the battery current sensor and the battery condition monitor module (E29).
- Battery current sensor check
-1. Substitute a known-good battery current sensor .
-2. Install all removed parts to the IPU, then install the IPU .
-3. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
-4. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
-5. Turn the vehicle to the READY TO DRIVE mode.
Test-drive the vehicle under these conditions:
- Vehicle speed above 31 mph (50 km/h)
- Maintain the vehicle speed for 2 seconds with brake pedal pressed (brake pedal position switch is ON).
-7. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.
DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame P1586 HV Battery Current Sensor Is DTC P1586 indicated?
YES
Replace the battery condition monitor module .
NO
- PCU check
-1. Keep the test-drive condition of the problem verification, and check the parameter(s) below.
Signal Current conditions Values Unit HV Battery Resolution Current Sensor1 Sensing Current Motor Inverter Current (BAT) -2. Compare the value of HV Battery Resolution Current Sensor1 Sensing Current and Motor Inverter Current (BAT).
Does the value about same?
YES
Replace the battery condition monitor module .
NO
