DTC P0AA1 : HV Battery Main Contactor Circuit Stuck Closed
NOTE:
- Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .
- Do not clear the DTC until the diagnosis has been completed. Otherwise, there is a possibility that the high-voltage sub contactor can get damaged if the DTC is cleared and the vehicle turned to the ON mode.

DTC (Electric Powertrain)
- Determine possible failure area (short in PRE line, others)
-1. Remove the service plug and the IPU cover .
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P) -3. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P): disconnected Test point 1 Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P) No. 6 Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Go to step 2.
NO
Go to step 3.
- Shorted wire check (PRE line)
-1. Remove the IPU and the IPU case .
-2. Disconnect the following connector.
Junction board 4P connector -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P): disconnected Junction board 4P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P) No. 6 Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
The PRE wire is OK. Replace the junction board .
NO
Repair a short in the PRE wire between the battery condition monitor module (E6) and the junction board.
- Determine possible failure area (short in CNTP line, others)
-1. Check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P): disconnected Test point 1 Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P) No. 4 Test point 2 Body ground Is there continuity?
YES
Go to step 4.
NO
Go to step 5.
- Shorted wire check (CNTP line)
-1. Disconnect the following connector.
Junction board 4P connector -2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P): disconnected Junction board 4P connector: disconnected Test point 1 Battery condition monitor module connector E (32P) No. 4 Test point 2 Body ground Is there 1 MΩ or more?
YES
The CNTP wire is OK. Replace the junction board .
NO
Repair a short in the CNTP wire between the battery condition monitor module (E4) and the junction board.
- Junction board check
-1. Remove the junction board .
-2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.
Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode Test point 1 Junction board terminal (A) Test point 2 Junction board terminal (B) Is there 45 Ω or less?
YES
There is a failure in the high voltage contactor or the bypass contactor. Replace the junction board .
NO
