DTC P0713  : Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit High

NOTE:  Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame
P0713 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit High

DTC (Electric Powertrain)

  1. Problem verification

-1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

-2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

-3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

-4. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

-5. Check the parameter(s) below with the HDS.

    Signal Threshold Current conditions
    Values Unit Values Unit
ATF Temperature Sensor Voltage (TRC) More than 4.9 V

Does the current condition(s) match the threshold?

    YES

The failure is duplicated. Go to step 2.

    NO

Intermittent failure. The system is OK at this time. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.

  2. Determine possible failure area (TATF line, SGTEMP/SGTATF line)

-1. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame
P0713 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit High
P0A2D Traction Motor Temperature Sensor Circuit High
P0CF1 PCU Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit High

Are DTC P0713, P0A2D, and P0CF1 indicated at the same time?

    YES

    Go to step 5.

    NO

    Go to step 3.

  3. Open wire check (TATF line)

-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

-2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    PCU 33P connector
Transmission fluid temperature sensor 2P connector

-4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCU 33P connector: disconnected
Transmission fluid temperature sensor 2P connector: disconnected
Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 23
Test point 2 Transmission fluid temperature sensor 2P connector (female terminals) No. 2:

Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES

    Go to step 4.

    NO

Repair an open in the TATF wire between the transmission fluid temperature sensor and the PCU.

  4. Transmission fluid temperature sensor check

-1. At the sensor side, check for continuity between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCU 33P connector: disconnected
Transmission fluid temperature sensor 2P connector: disconnected
Test point 1 Transmission fluid temperature sensor 2P connector (male terminals) No. 1:
Test point 2 Transmission fluid temperature sensor 2P connector (male terminals) No. 2:
    GHH381918Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

    Is there continuity?

    YES

    Replace the PCU .

    NO

Replace the transmission fluid temperature sensor .

  5. Open wire check (SGTEMP/SGTATF line)

-1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

-2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    PCU 33P connector
Transmission fluid temperature sensor 2P connector

-4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCU 33P connector: disconnected
Transmission fluid temperature sensor 2P connector: disconnected
Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 17
Test point 2 Transmission fluid temperature sensor 2P connector (female terminals) No. 1:
    GHH381920Courtesy of HONDA, U.S.A., INC.

Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES

    Replace the PCU .

    NO

Repair an open in the SGTEMP/SGTATF wire between the transmission fluid temperature sensor and the PCU.
